WSPRA board plans for 2025-26

The WSPRA Board held their annual planning retreat on June 24. In addition to their regular meeting (summary below), board members reviewed and updated the 2023-26 strategic plan. Key takeaways from the meeting include:
- We're proud of the past year's accomplishments and progress on strategic plan action items (2024-25 Year in Review).
- The WSPRA member survey responses helped to guide board members in their planning for next year. Responses will also be shared with the WSPRA professional development and fall conference planning committees.
- In addition to continuing with existing action items of the strategic plan, the following is to be considered for 2025-26 (highlighted in green on plan):
- Explore WSPRA member book club with Apptegy.
- Pilot at least two regional meetings.
- Develop a communication for districts, i.e., video, document, etc., about new digital accessibility laws.
- Develop proposal with WASB for a new award that recognizes Wisconsin media outlets for fair, accurate reporting on public schools.
- Create a document that shares tips, tricks and strategies to help navigate disinformation on social media.
- Consider new strategies for increasing membership of those in Wisconsin responsible for school communications and engagement.
- Consider new strategies for sharing resources with WSPRA members.
- Participate in media grant communication planning project with WEAC that will promote public education.
- Offer complimentary WSPRA membership to WASDA Superintendent of the Year and Wisconsin NSPRA Superintendents to Watch winners.
During the regular meeting, board members:
- approved the 2025-26 WSPRA budget and the Executive Director's 2025-26 contract.
- decided to look into the process for making a request to host the NSPRA National Seminar in the future.
