Passing a Referendum

The passage of school referenda has become a critical issue in today’s school financial climate. The tips to assure a successful referendum are deceivingly simple:

  • Know your community
  • Know how to reach your citizens (all the groups)
  • Begin your campaign early
  • Be able to answer questions about the issues of the referendum
  • Allow community groups to carry the message
  • Use every tool you have available to communicate with your audiences
  • Inform; do not advocate
