The Verona Area School District is looking for an exceptional and creative communications leader to serve as our Public Information Officer. The Verona Area School District (VASD) is a PreK – 12 school district of approximately 5,800 students located near Madison, WI.
The Verona Area School District (VASD) is a growing school district with 10 schools including three charter schools and a two-way immersion Spanish program. In September of 2020 we will open a new state of the art $150 million high school on a 160 acre campus. Our incredible student body is 37% non-white, 29% receive free or reduced lunches, 14% percentage are English Learners and 8 % are receive special education services. Our staff is 900 strong between all positions including full and part time.
We are a busy school district! There are a LOT of wonderful things going on in our classrooms and across our school district daily. Our Public Information Officer takes the lead on building systems and processes to communicate frequently and effectively with our parents, community and staff. Our Public Information Officer is the face of the Verona Area School District and interacts with students, staff and the community on a daily basis.

- Public Speaking
- Basic graphics design
- Incident response
Viable candidates will have a portfolio of evidence showing their leadership in leading an organization(s) in their internal and external communication efforts.
Bilingual skills are highly valued but not a requirement for this position.
Salary, Benefits, Length of Contract: This position works a 260-day (12 month) contract with starting compensation that is negotiable but will be no less than $80,000 with an exceptional benefits package.
