The Communication Specialist uses specialized knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience to implement, maintain, and manage internal and external communication efforts of PSD to engage all members of our community. Essential Functions: Serve as the creative architect for all internal and external communications Promote, publicize and archive PSD news, activities, and successes in the improvement of learning, teaching, and student achievement through all communication platforms and media outlets including print, imagery, and video. Coordinate and monitor communications between the school district and community including social media. Serve as the contact for media inquiries and request for information. Disseminate information when necessary in response to media inquiries. Develop relationships with media and other community stakeholders to invest in public school education.
Skills Required: Strong history of strategic planning, along with a demonstrable history of developing and implementing a comprehensive and dynamic communications strategy for an organization or school district. Demonstrated skills in writing and editing publications and press releases. Ability to keep a finger on the pulse of PSD and the community to be proactive in capturing ongoing engagement in support of Public Education. Ability to work with diverse stakeholder groups. Demonstrated success in implementing strong communication campaigns Proficiency in with Desktop publishing, Microsoft Office Suites, GAFE, all social media platforms, and online content management systems, Adobe InDesign and photoshop.
